Coro Scolastica
Welcome! Coro Scolastica is a choir at IPS for any student in 3rd or 4th grade.
Virtual Choir- SUBMISSIONS DUE MAY 29th
We will be performing "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive" for our virtual choir. When you submit recordings, I will edit them so that we sound like a choir and not individuals- so no need to worry that it will sound like you're singing alone! It won't! Your music was emailed to you (or can be found on the Coro Google Classroom site) along with practice tracks. I have also included the practice tracks below. Please practice either part 1 (odd folder numbers) or part 2 (even folder numbers) twice a day and practice both scat sections. These tracks are just for practice- videos for recording, along with instructions, are AFTER the practice videos.
Practice Videos- do not make a recording with these!
If you sing Part One, practice with this video.
If you sing Part Two, practice with this video.
Instructions for Recording and Conductor Video
1. Choose the conductor video for your part (1 or 2) to listen to and watch while you sing and record. Videos are posted at the end of these instructions. Please read all of the instructions before you use the videos at the end to record.
2. Please wear wired headphones while recording.
3. I will start a countdown right before we sing and you will clap on "zero"- 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, CLAP. This is important and will help me when I edit the videos together.
4. Relax, and follow me conducting and singing, as you sing with your best voice.
5. Be as precise as you can, staying in time with the rehearsal tracks and conductor. This might mean your first take is not your best take. I frequently have to start over. I had to start over a few times making the videos for our virtual choir! It's okay!!!
6. Smile! Enjoy this opportunity to sing.
7. Record your videos in landscape mode, not portrait mode, and use good video recording practices.
8. Wear your Coro Scolastica shirt so we all look like a team!
9. Once you've recorded, choose the best recording you made (make sure you listen to it before you send it to me!) and send it to me one of two ways:
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me: [email protected]
Thank you and happy singing!
- Open the video for your part on a screen in front of you- a separate device from the device that you will use to record yourself singing. One device to listen to and watch the video, another device to record your performance.
- Place your recording device in a location where you are facing the camera as you follow the conductor on the other device.
- My preference is that you use Screencastify on your Chromebook to record yourself. If your Chromebook is having troubles, you can get the Screencastify extension for free on Google Chrome. Use your school email account to log in so that you can save your video directly to Google Drive.
- Use a tablet, cell phone, or lap top to watch the conductor video- you will plug your headphones into this device.
2. Please wear wired headphones while recording.
- Please do not wear bluetooth headphones, as they have latency issues, and you will likely end up being out of sync with the rest of the group.
- You may choose to wear only one headphone, if that is more comfortable.
3. I will start a countdown right before we sing and you will clap on "zero"- 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, CLAP. This is important and will help me when I edit the videos together.
4. Relax, and follow me conducting and singing, as you sing with your best voice.
- Sing as you would normally sing if we were all together in the music room.
- Use emotion and expression.
- Sing from your heart!
- Center yourself in the camera view.
- Stand or sit in front of a neutral background that is not busy or distracting.
- Cover windows that are behind you to lessen backlight.
- Have good lighting in front of you to lessen backlight further.
8. Wear your Coro Scolastica shirt so we all look like a team!
9. Once you've recorded, choose the best recording you made (make sure you listen to it before you send it to me!) and send it to me one of two ways:
- Preferred option: record using Screencastify and the video automatically saves to your Google Drive where you can share it with me!
- If for some reason you cannot use Screencastify, you can email me the video.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me: [email protected]
Thank you and happy singing!
